About us

Dargaville Medical Centre is a leading General Practice partnership situated on the Kauri Coast, supplying all general practitioner services to the greater Dargaville area. Our main aim is to provide the best possible primary health care to the people of the Kaipara.

For many years, we have attracted excellent long term locums who assist the partnership in supplying high quality and accessible care to the people of this beautiful region. Medical services are provided to support Te Ha Oranga's peripheral clinics ( Maori Health ) up to one hour travel in either direction north (Waipoua forest settlement) or south (Pouto and Tinopai).

All after hours services are provided in Dargaville, either at the medical centre or at the hospital. Nurses at the hospital provide triage services before patients are seen by general practitioners. We are part of the PRIME (Primary Response In Medical Emergencies) service and as such GPs respond as back up to the ambulance at serious accidents and medical emergencies when appropriate.

On this website you will find information about the type of services that we offer, our staff, training opportunities for medical students and GP registrars, information for GPs interested in locuming at Dargaville Medical Centre, and also links to other health-related sites that may be of interest.

The area has had a long tradition of leading innovative developments in service delivery. Currently all providers in the area are working towards Integrated Family Health Care ( IFHC ) to provide a coordinated approach to health care
